Blue and Gold Gala to celebrate UAF centennial

UAF will celebrate its first 100 years at the Blue and Gold Gala, which will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Carlson Center.

The centennial celebration will recognize distinguished faculty, alumni, friends and supporters. Recipients of the Emil Usibelli Distinguished Teaching, Research and Service Awards, respectively, will be Mary Ehrlander, David Newman and Laura Conner. Grace Schaible, the Usibelli family and the late Elmer and Mary Louise Rasmuson will be recognized as Philanthropists of the Century. Virginia Farmier will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award, and Jo Scott will receive the William R. Cashen Service Award.

Attendees are encouraged to wear attire from the 1920s or semiformal wear.

Tickets for the gala are $100. Net proceeds will benefit UAF students through the Centennial Cornerstone Scholarship and Fellowship Endowment.

Centennial Square naming approved

The redesignated pedestrian corridor in front of Wickersham Hall will be named Centennial Square in honor of UAF's centennial. Read more

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner will publish an insert celebrating UAF's centennial in the Jan. 29 issue. The insert will include stories about UAF's history as well as interesting tales about our people and ideas. An events listing will be included on the back page that can serve as a guide for the year's activities. Watch for it and join us!
