Join Chancellor Mike Powers and Teri Spires for an elegant evening with fine dining, a live auction and music celebrating the partnership between UAF and the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation.

Net proceeds will support community mental health programs at the hospital and the UAF Student Health and Counseling Center.

This year we will once again be using BidPal for ticket sales and to bid on silent auction items on the evening of the event. BidPal is a mobile biding system that you will be able to access using your smartphone (IPhone and Android) once you check in. BidPal will allow you to bid on silent auction items throughout the night from anywhere in the room using your phone.

Thanks, Fairbanks, we're sold out. To be wait-listed, please contact UAF Development at 474-2619. To make a gift, please click on the button below. Ticket holders who haven't yet registered can also click below.

Dear friends,

On behalf of the Gala Planning Committee, thank you for joining us for the 2016 Chancellor’s Gala. My husband, Andy and I look forward to this gathering each year. The University of Alaska Fairbanks has always been part of our family. Over the last several years I’ve grown an even deeper connection to and appreciation of UAF through my experience with this meaningful event. The gala demonstrates the outstanding partnership between the University of Alaska Fairbanks and our community. Tonight, we will build upon last year’s focus by raising awareness for mental health services for students and families in the Interior.

The issue of mental health is personal for me and my family. My daughter, Ashlie, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at a young age. During this time, the community lacked adequate treatment resources. She had to receive treatment out of state and away from her family. This had an isolating effect on us all.

Mental health problems are often dismissed or stigmatized by those who don’t understand how pervasive this issue truly is. Those who suffer from mental illness feel they must hide their pain, keeping themselves shuttered in darkness. My wish, my family’s wish, is to continue to improve the mental health resources available to families and children in the Fairbanks area, so that children like Ashlie can continue their journey to better health alongside their families.

My friends, my extended family and my workplace supported me and my family throughout our process, but we can do so much more as a community. UAF and the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation are working together to develop a strong team of mental health professionals to help children and their families. By working together, we can make sure that no families are left to fight this on their own.

This evening, we are going to hear some profound messages about this serious and sometimes sobering topic. We’re here to bring greater awareness to this important need, raise philanthropic support, and to enjoy this wonderful evening!

Thank you for joining me in this commitment to make a difference in our community.
