Gloria Steinem is a writer, lecturer, editor, and feminist activist. She travels in this and other countries as an organizer and lecturer and is a frequent media spokeswoman on issues of equality. She is particularly interested in the shared origins of sex and race caste systems, gender roles and child abuse as roots of violence, non-violent conflict resolution, the cultures of indigenous peoples, and organizing across boundaries for peace and justice. Journey to Chile: A Land of Contrasts.
If Chile and Easter Island is on your bucket list, this trip is for you. Explore one of the most diverse countries in South America. Discover Chile's capital city, Santiago. Witness one of Chile's UNESCO World Heritage sites: Valparaiso harbor city. By foot and by sea, embrace the natural beauty of Northern Patagonia landscapes. Immerse yourself in the history and culture of early colonizers around the Lake District. Witness the mysterious culture of one of the most isolated place on earth, Easter Island, with its megalithic monuments and legends.
Program Fee: $6,900 per person based on double occupancy; single occupancy supplement $600. All in-country costs are covered including, hotels, lectures, entrance fees, three meals a day, tipping and, transportation which includes the 5 hour flight to Easter Island; transportation to and from Chile is not included.
Important Note: This program is designed for healthy active individuals who on any given day are prepared to walk for 1-3 hours (up to 3 miles) on rough ground and can easily handle climbing uneven stairs.
