Application instructions

New students (undergraduate and graduate)

New students: Students who have never attended the University of Alaska before.
  1. Review your admission requirements
     
  2. Go to the UAOnline home page
     
  3. Select Apply for Admission or Check on Status of Application

  4. Select First-time User Account Creation (at bottom of page)
    You will be asked to choose an ID and PIN before continuing to the application form. Please make note of this ID and PIN for future use.
     
  5. Choose a campus
     
  6. Click on your application type: 

    • U.S. Assoc./Cert 1 & 2 year: 
      U.S. citizens or permanent residents who wish to pursue an associate degree or certificate program

    • U.S. Bachelor ? 4 year: 
      U.S. citizens or permanent residents who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree

    • U.S. Graduate ? Master/Phd: 
      U.S. citizens or permanent residents who wish to pursue a master’s degree, doctorate or graduate licensure

    • UA Scholars: 
      students who have been designated as UA Scholars by their high school

    • International Bachelor-4 year: 
      students who are, or will be, in the U.S. on a visa and who wish to pursue a bachelor’s program 

    • International Grad-Master/PhD: 
      students who are, or will be, in the U.S. on a visa and who wish to pursue a master’s degree, doctorate or graduate licensure program

  7. Click continue to complete the online application and pay the application fee. (A credit card is required.)

Returning students

Returning students: If you have attended the University of Alaska before, but have not taken classes in the last two years.
  1. Review your admission requirements
     
  2. Go to the UAOnline home page
     
  3. Select Log into Secure Area

  4. Log in with your UA User ID number and PIN
     
  5. Select Student Services

  6. Select Admissions

  7. Choose a campus
     
  8. Click on your application type: 

    • U.S. Assoc./Cert 1 & 2 year: 
      U.S. citizens or permanent residents who wish to pursue an associate degree or certificate program

    • U.S. Bachelor - 4 year: 
      U.S. citizens or permanent residents who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree

  9. Click continue to complete the online application and pay the application fee. (A credit card is required.)

Notes about online applications

  • Submitting an application through UAOnline is the quickest way to have your application processed.
     
  • Once you begin filling out an online application, you can save and complete it later.
     
  • Please do not submit more than one application application unless you are requesting more than one degree.
     
  • Your social security number and credit card number (Visa or MasterCard) will be requested.
     

Printed applications

  1. Download the application as a PDF
    If you prefer, please download, print out and mail in a paper application.

  2. Request a paper application from Admissions
    Contact us by email, letter, phone or fax to request a printed application in the mail.

Undergraduate students

  • November 1 - spring semester
     
  • May 1 - summer sessions
     
  • June 15 - fall semester

Graduate students**

  • October 15 - spring semester
     
  • May 1 - summer sessions
     
  • June 1 - fall semester

International students**

  • March 1 - fall semester
     
  • September 1 - spring semester

*Note: Applications received after the published deadlines may not be processed by the beginning of the semester. Please contact an admissions counselor for more information. 

**Note: Grad student application deadlines may vary by program. Be sure to refer to your department.
