Anchorage, AK

Class standing/years in college:

A bit about me:

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but raised in Bethel. I have been at UAF since 2010 and have been studying Electrical Engineering since. I have studied abroad to South Korea's University - Korea University my second year of college. I enjoy playing the guitar and doing outdoor activities.

Why did you choose to attend UAF?

I chose UAF because I don't have to pay out of state tuition and didn't see a reason to leave Alaska when they have a great engineering program here.

What do you like best about UAF?

Honestly, my favorite thing about UAF is the free printing and free laundry usages. It is a drain to spend money on that stuff as a student. Also, I enjoy the outside nature of UAF and all the friendly and active students that attend this university.

What do you like to do in your spare time? What extracurricular activities are you a part of?

In my spare time I play video games and the guitar, watch T.V., go to the gym, volunteer or extracurriculer engineering work, or just relax and take naps.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a prospective student interested in UAF?

Be ready for an amazing winter experience and make sure to become active and outgoing. Winters could be harsh, but after a year or two, you start to see how great this school truly is.

What "field work" have you done at UAF that will help you find work in your major?

I haven't done any internships, but there are many opportunities to do other work that the engineering department offers.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

As an electrical engineer I would like to workat Chaigach Electric in Anchorage (The Power Plant). My dream is to work with renewables and become a project manager, but as an inexperienced student with no prior background, I would hope for any job for experience.

If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be?

I would live in Seattle, Washington.
