NOVEMBER'S THEME IS ALASKA ART

Celebrate Alaska art during the final weeks of the Living Alaska exhibit. Contribute to a mural in the Museum Cafe. The UA Museum of the North is offering hands-on programs during the month of November. All activities take place in the Creativity Lab and are inlcuded with admission.

Family Day: Alaska Art

Meet local artists. Explore how science, culture, and art connect. Discover 2,000 years of Alaskan art and get inspired to create your own artwork! Kids 14 and under free on Family Days.

Art Workshops: Fused Glass

Monday, December 5
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This hands-on workshop is designed for kids aged 6 and up working with an adult to create a fused glass project with Fairbanks artist Margaret Donat. Instructions and materials to make small objects such as a pendant, ornament, or tile will be provided. There is a fee for this workshop.

Wednesday, December 7
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

No experience is needed for this hands-on fused glass workshop with instructor Margaret Donat, a local artist and educator. You will learn the basics of creating glass objects in a kiln and make a fused glass plate and small pendant or ornament. There is a fee for this workshop.

Living Alaska: A Decade of Collecting Contemporary Art for Alaska Museums
In the Collections Gallery

Explore more than a decade's worth of Alaska's artworks, made possible by annual grants to the state's museums from the Rasmuson Foundation to  acquire contemporary art. In its first ten years, the Rasmuson Art Acquisition Fund distributed grants to purchase more than a thousand works by hundreds of artists.

Expedition Alaska: Dinosaurs
In the Special Exhibits Gallery

The Last Road North
Inside the Museum's West Entrance

A collection of photographs by Alaska artist Ben Huff from his larger series The Last Road North.  These photos were taken along the Dalton Highway over the course of five years using a large format camera.
