Research Day 2014

The 7th annual Research Day was held at the UAF campus on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

Fisheries student Mark Evans received a Dean's Choice Award.

Over 80 undergraduate students presented posters in the Wood Center all day. Undergraduate research activities at UAF cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, from climate science to life science, engineering to anthropology, and music to theater. Research Day is sponsored by the Vice Chancellor for Research and the office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity.

Dean's Choice awards of $100 were awarded to several poster presenters: Grace Amundsen, Mark Evans, Jonathan McMahon / Alfred Wright, Virginia Miner / Lynea Schell / Dennis Tyson, Katie Shink and Sasha White.

At 4 pm UA Vice President Dana Thomas gave the keynote address, "The Future of Research at UA," and Vice Chancellor for Research Mark Myers awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Craig Dorman. Posters presented by undergraduate students at international, national and regional meetings were recognized. The winners of the Dean's Choice awards were invited to answer a few questions about their project, and were awarded additional cash prizes from the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Provost.

Thank you to all who participated in Research Day activities.
