Committees

Senators are required to sit on at least one committee.  The following committees meet in the Senate Chambers, next to the bowling alley in the Wood Center.


Executive: The executive committee makes funding recommendations to the Senate regarding the student travel applications.  The committee also reviews the ASUAF budget each Spring.  In the past, this committee has also reviewed most of the legislation proposing the allocation of funds from the rollover account.  The carry forward account consists of unspent funds from previous years.

Internal Affairs: This committee plans the biannual retreat, where the ASUAF bylaws and rules of procedure are reviewed.  They also review most legislation that proposes changes to these documents.

Student Affairs: The student affairs committee plans various events during the academic year and generates questions to ask students during the general elections.

Elections Board: This committee is headed by the vice president, and deals with matters of elections

University Relations: This committee sends representatives to the faculty senate and staff council meetings and works with various university entities to address student issues.  This committee also reviews all appointments made by the ASUAF President to various university bodies.

Public Relations: The public relations committee deals with public relation aspects of ASUAF, which typically includes the purchasing of advertisements or promotional items, or public events. The public relations committee, in conjunction with the government relations council, reviews the applications for the annual legislative advocacy conference in Juneau.
