Alaska Wood Energy Conference 2017

Tuesday April 11th 8 am to 5:00 pm and Wednesday April 12th 8 am to 3:00 pm.

This will be the fourth Alaska Wood Energy Confer­ence and we are pleased to be returning to Ketchikan. Community leaders, agency representatives, scientists and individuals from around the state and region will gather to share experiences, resources and knowledge of woody biomass as an alternative energy resource in our state.  Some sessions will qualify for Society of American Foresters Continuing Education Credits. The conference typically draws 150 participants. Registration is available online.

The conference will be held at the Ted Ferry Civic Center in Ketchikan, AK. For information about Ketchikan and how to get there you can connect to the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau.

Hydronic System Design for High-Efficiency Biomass Boilers Wednesday April 12, 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm (dinner included)

John “Siggy” Siegenthaler will be returning to Alaska to offer his 8 hour class - How Hydronic Systems Supplied from Biomass Boilers Should Be Designed.  Siggy has worked with New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)  to provide training for their Renewable Heat NY program.  To date they have trained over 150 heating professionals.  He has also been involved with plans review and “forensics” involving biomass boiler systems that have not performed as expected. If this workshop does not meet minimum enrollment numbers, it will not be held.
