Award helps fund the AK High School Science Symposium

The College of Natural Science & Mathematics received an $11,000 award from the Junior Science and Humanities Symposia program to support the 30th Alaska Statewide High School Science Symposium. The Alaska symposium is one of 48 regional symposia where high school students complete original research in science, technology, engineering or mathematics and compete for scholarships and cash prizes.

The symposium’s director, Abel Bult-Ito, said the award helps fund the event and cash awards. It also provides travel support for students who attend the symposium at UAF on March 28-29, 2015.

He said CNSM hosts the event every year on campus as a way to interest high school students in research and college. Read more
