Dr. Carol A. Barnhardt

Associate Professor of Elementary Education, Emeritus

Dr. Carol A. Barnhardt has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1982 to 2013.

She possesses a unique understanding of the issues facing education in Alaska, and has been a longtime champion of the University’s efforts to deliver high-quality multicultural education to rural communities, working closely with Alaska Native educators around the State in those efforts.

She has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses using a variety of delivery methods; and whose enthusiasm for learning, high standards and genuine interest in students have made her a greatly respected professor.

She has an exemplary record of service to the University and the School of Education, having served as the leader of the School’s successful accreditation and reaccreditation efforts; and has provided essential and effective leadership to the Elementary Education program for many years.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Carol A. Barnhardt for her extensive contributions to the State of Alaska and to the University.
