The Ice Tower is Open for the Season!

Join us at the ice tower for the Spring 2018 season!

All experience levels are welcome, and all technical climbing gear is provided!

The ice tower will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4pm-8pm, and Saturday from 12pm-4pm. The tower is free with a SRC membership or $15 without.  Gear is included, just bring warm layers! The wall has staff available to belay so you don't need a to have taken the safety orientation (belay) class to use this facility.  Stop by when we're open and enjoy this awesome winter sport!

Fairbanks Flash-Competitive Youth Climbing Team:

The Fairbanks Flash-Competitive Youth Climbing Team gives climbers the chance to compete with other youth climbing teams in our Region: Alaska/Washington, Division: 1. Practices are specifically aimed at teaching each climber the skills and technique he or she needs in order to compete at USA Climbing sanctioned competitions. During practice, our coach works with each athlete to prevent injury, maximize climbing time, pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, motivate, inspire, and promote a healthy team environment.

  • Offered: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm - 6:30pm (January 16th - May 3rd)
  • Cost: $375/semester (30 sessions - No practice on March 13th and 15th because of Spring Break)
  • Space limited to 10 students
  • Minimum age: 10 years old
  • Coach: Travis Russel 


Homeschool Climb:

This midday session is a great overall introduction to the fundamentals of rock climbing. Topics will include awareness of surroundings, communication skills, climbing equipment, knots, rope handling, rappelling, and various climbing techniques.

  • Offered: Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm - 3pm (January 16th - May 3rd)
  • Cost: $350/semester (30 sessions - No practice on March 13th and 15th because of Spring Break)
  • Space limited to 10 students
  • Minimum age: 8 years old
  • Coach: Travis Russel


Rec Climbing Club:

This after-school climbing session aims to teach basic rock climbing skills and technique through top rope climbing and bouldering indoors. We also encourage communication, teamwork, problem solving, trust, and confidence through climbing with a small group of climbers. We want to grow a lifelong appreciation of climbing in our participants.

  • Offered: Wednesdays 4:30pm - 6:30pm (January 17th - May 2nd)
  • Cost: $200/semester (15 sessions - No practice on March 14th because of Spring Break)
  • Space limited to 10 students
  • Minimum age: 8 years old
  • Coach: Emily Smola


Jr. Climb:

The Jr. climbing program aims to get younger children involved with rock climbing. They will have a great time learning basic climbing skills through fun games and activities at the climbing wall. This is a great opportunity for young climbers to develop their skills and getting some exercise! No experience is required. Sessions are offered every other Saturday beginning on January 13th.
