UAF celebrates the great success of the Alaska Center for Energy and Power Centennial Initiative

Thanks to the leadership of co-chairs Janet Weiss, BP Alaska regional president, and Ethan Schutt, CIRI senior vice president, the committee, and the dedication of our generous donors, UAF raised over $2 million in gifts toward the Alaska Center for Energy and Power Centennial Initiaitive. Founding investors at the $25,000 level or greater include BP, ConocoPhillips Alaska and the Usibelli Coal Mine.

We are encouraged by the continued support of our UAF alumni, donors and friends in the fundraising effort that led up to the $37.5 million bond package that will complete the University of Alaska Fairbanks' engineering building. All of these invaluable partners have provided a solid foundation for ACEP to carry on their important mission.

The Alaska Center for Energy and Power develops and showcases practical, cost-effective, and innovative energy solutions that impact Alaskans and communities around the world. ACEP prepares the newest generation of engineers for Alaska. The focus of the ACEP Centennial Initiative has been to raise $6.5 million to complete the fourth floor of the Engineering, Learning and Innovation Facility, where the future home of ACEP will be. When completed, the new home for ACEP will provide state-of-the-art space to tackle complex energy challenges facing Alaska, the nation and the world.

As we enter UAF's centennial anniversary, we look forward to new discoveries and continued growth for both our campus and our university. Our thanks to those that have participated and given generously to this part of our history and our future.

Fourth Floor Progress

The view from the fourth floor offers a stark contrast to the vacant skeleton of the fourth floor itself. This state-of-the-art facility is nearing the final stages of construction but requires the follow-through of our incredible supporters, many of whom have been with us since the beginning, to help make this dream come to fruition. We can help give our future engineers the tools to make a brighter future today.
