Teresa was born and raised in Northern New York, lived in Washington, D.C. for six years, and moved to Fairbanks to make her home in 1989. Teresa has worked in a variety of positions, including Community Development Manager for United Way, Director of Recruitment and Partnership Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and has been in her current position as Development Officer for the UAF School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (SFOS) since January 2008. Her passion for salmon, sustainable Alaska fisheries and healthy ocean stewardship keeps her grounded in her work at SFOS. Teresa is a UAF alumna, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Communication in 2004.
Teresa has been a Sunrisers Rotarian since 2002 serving as a team leader, vice president, secretary, membership chair and vocational team chair. She also served as corporate sponsorship chair for the local American Cancer Society Relay for Life for four years. Teresa and her husband Todd have been involved on the local Young Life Committee since 2010 and currently serve as Co-Chairs.
Teresa and Todd have been married since 1993 and have two Miniature Schnauzers named Ziva and Bode. They are active members and volunteers of Friends Community Church and have been matched as a Big Couple in the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program since 2005. Teresa loves Alaska and enjoys music, skiing, walking, camping and cooking.
