Opening Summer 2015
Expedition Dinosaurs takes us on an adventure across Alaska. Follow museum paleontologists as they journey down the Yukon River, climb cliffs on the Alaska Peninsula, and excavate bones out of permafrost on the North Slope.
Travel by Zodiac – Helicopter – Snow Machine – AUV – Hiking Boots – ATV – Fixed Wing – Raft
This is where childhood dreams meet the great Alaskan wilderness experience!
The exhibit will display dozens of specimens from museum expeditions over recent decades, animations illustrating dinosaur locomotion, and interactive displays exploring animal biomechanics and convergent evolution.
Extreme country calls for extreme logistics: army helicopters, rock climbing, and 500 miles by open boat along the Yukon and Tanana Rivers. Films shot on location will tell the story of adventure and multi-year planning in museum research.
