For the second year in a row, the Friends of the UA Museum of the North challenged the community to match their $20,000 gift to the museum. The response to their challenge brought in $22,569 in donations to the museum before the end of the year. We thank the generous support from the Friends of the UA Museum of the North for leveraging their gift.

The total raised during the 2017 holiday fund drive was $42,569!

In November 2017, we mailed a letter to more than 2,000 UA Museum of the North supporters announcing the second annual challenge grant from the Friends of the UA Museum of the North. This group of individuals who work to support the museum’s mission offered $20,000 in matching funds to help us raise income during this difficult economic climate.

You can always make your gift to the museum by donating online.

PS: Are you of the age where you must take an annual mandatory distribution from an IRA account? If so, please consider supporting the UA Museum of the North’s Annual Fund by making a tax deductible donation directly from your retirement – it’s surprisingly easy to do! For more information, please contact Harry Need, UA Foundation Senior Director of Philanthropic Services at or (907) 786-4840.

We hope you enjoyed our annual Open House on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2018 with FREE cupcakes, tours of the labs, hands-on activities, and other fun ways to connect with the museum's collections. If you have any questions about making a gift to the museum, please contact Aelin Allegood, UAMN Development Coordinator, at or (907) 474-1510.
