The Alaska Community Colleges’ Federation of Teachers (ACCFT) is the union representing about 310 of the University’s more than 1,200 regular faculty throughout the state. The university and the union are currently involved in contract talks. Over the next few weeks, there may be informational pickets by ACCFT at university locations throughout the state. An informational picket is not a strike. ACCFT faculty members are expected to continue to perform all of their professional responsibilities during times when there is informational picketing. The university similarly expects that all other employees will report to work and that classes will meet as scheduled at assigned locations irrespective of the presence of ACCFT rallies or informational picketing.

At UAF, approximately 77 of the approximately 600 regular faculty are represented by ACCFT, primarily at rural campuses and at the Tanana Valley Campus. UAF’s Nanook information line, 474-7UAF, will be updated as necessary with significant news on union negotiations. Updated information is also available on the UA Labor Relations website at www.alaska.edu/hr/labor/index.xml
