Ducharme Named CRA Associate Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management

University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Rural Alaska Executive Dean Bernice Joseph has appointed JoAnn "JoJo" Ducharme associate dean of student services and enrollment management.

"This position is key to strengthening the educational experiences for students served by the College of Rural Alaska through retention, student wellness and development," said Joseph.

The position will coordinate CRA enrollment management efforts and facilitate federal funding designated to strengthen student services throughout the college. The appointment also addresses recommendations from UAF’s recent re-accreditation process that communication and collaboration across divisions be developed to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.

The department will coordinate services with the Fairbanks campus division of student affairs and other departments and programs integral to serving students in Fairbanks and at UAF’s rural campuses.

Ducharme has served as the director of UAF Rural Student Services for 10 years and has worked in student services and enrollment management for more than 20 years. She is also a UAF alumna.

"As a Native student who came to UAF years ago, I would have gone home had it not been for the quality student services I received," said Ducharme. "I’m looking forward to working with the committed and knowledgeable CRA personnel to serve the students at the rural campuses and also on the Fairbanks campus."

Ducharme will continue to teach two courses this semester for the School of Education and advise a small number of Fairbanks students served by RSS. Kay Thomas will assume the position of RSS student services coordinator and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations within the department.
