The Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center will host a seminar and discussion on science and policy with visiting scientist Peter Frumhoff Thursday, Oct. 10, from 2-4 p.m. in Akasofu 501. During the first hour, Frumhoff will give a lecture titled "From Science to Action on Climate Change." For the remaining time there will be an open discussion on how policy is affecting scientists and how scientists can affect policy. Please come prepared to discuss your own experiences regarding how policy impacts your research and Arctic science more broadly.

Frumhoff is director of science and policy and chief climate scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists. A global change ecologist, he has published widely at the nexus of climate science and policy including on the climate responsibilities of fossil fuel companies, the attribution of extreme events to climate change, the ecological impacts of climate change, the role of forests and land use in climate mitigation, and the societal responsibilities of geoengineering researchers.

The Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center is part of the International Arctic Research Center. For more information, email Heather McFarland, IARC communications lead, at hrmcfarland@alaska.edu.
