Yang Liu

Yang Liu was born in 1991 in Fuzhou, China. With amazing artistic talent at an early age, she learned calligraphy, singing, dancing and drawing and even trained for television.

Yang began studying piano when she was 6. In 2000, she won second prize in the 8th Xing Hai National Piano Competition in Beijing.

At 10, she entered the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. During her study in Beijing, she followed two famous pianists and piano teachers, Professor Pingguo Zhao and his wife, Yuan Ling. In 2007, after graduation in Beijing, she entered The Juilliard School in New York, where she studied first with Victoria Mushkatkol and then Yoheved Kaplinsky. She currently is a master’s degree student at Juilliard.»

Yang’s interests in early music led her to study harpsichord with Lionel Party and fortepiano with Audrey Axinn.

She performs frequently as a pianist, harpsichordist, fortepianist and chamber musician.»
