Our Team

The College of Rural and Community Development staff, faculty, and leadership are dedicated to supporting students throughout their education journey.

Our Students

Our students come from all over Alaska and the world — especially rural communities throughout the state. We learn from our students and their experiences every day. Hear from their experiences at CRCD.

Our Events

At CRCD, we love to gather and celebrate. From Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations to the Festival of Native Arts, to symposiums to webinar series, there are always opportunities to learn as a community.

Our Programs

We offer academic programs designed to serve Alaska communities and build a new generation of leaders. Supporting key initiatives such as workforce development, business development and economic growth, we are grounded in Alaska communities and the challenges we face.

We offer certificates, associates, baccalaureate and master’s degree programs statewide. CRCD is also an integral part of the PhD in Indigenous Studies.

Our Communities

The College of Rural and Community Development’s community campuses in Fairbanks, Bethel, Dillingham, Nome, Kotzebue, and centers in Galena, Ft. Yukon, Tok, Unalaska, McGrath, Shishmaref, Unalakleet, Togiak, King Salmon, and Delta reach 160 communities statewide.

We partner with school districts, cities, tribes, health corporations, and employers to improve learning outcomes, provide internships and scholarships, and serve on advisory councils for educational programming.

Our Services

As one of nine schools and colleges that make up the University of Alaska Fairbanks, we take great pride in offering service at the point of need, regardless of location. We are here to provide you with the resources you need, whether you want to take a single class or pursue your PhD.

Our commitment to life-long learning takes many forms. Rural Student Services and CRCD Advisors can assist you with admission, registration, course requirements, degree checklists, and financial aid.

Our Teaching

We teach and learn as a community. Programs and courses are developed with input from our students, and rooted in social and economic issues they face.

Our faculty and staff are creative and innovative in designing and delivering courses for rural communities. We offer flexible, hands-on educational opportunities to meet the needs of students in rural Alaska and serve communities across the state.

We teach and learn where we are.
