Student Opportunities for Service (SOS) are events facilitated by the LIVE Program, the purpose of which is to afford students, faculty and staff time to provide a valuable service to the campus community and/or the community of Fairbanks without having to worry about the logistics of getting involved alone.
The Volunteer Program, at least once a month, actively seeks out organizations and community events that require voluntary assistance in order to promote community involvement. These opportunities are then made public to students, faculty and staff, along with information about how to sign up for the specific time and place of the event. All participants have to do is show up at the designated meeting place ready to help and offer support. Transportation to the event (if the event is off-campus) will be provided through the LIVE Program as well. participants will not be required to meet anywhere off-campus if that is the location of the event.
