About the name
At the 2012 conference in Bellingham it was suggested that the conference name be changed from Athabaskan to Dene, reflecting a preference for the latter term by many conference participants. It is well-known that the name Athabaskan is not an indigenous term (see this site). For the sake of continuity we will continue to list the former name in parentheses during this time of transition.
Proceedings Volume
Proceedings of the 2013 conference will be published as volume 12 in the ANLC Working Papers series. Any paper presented at the 2013 conference, or a new paper dealing with any aspect of Dene (a.k.a. Athabascan, Athabaskan) linguistics or anthropology, is welcome. Keep in mind that these are working papers. They will be checked for appropriateness of content and conformity to the style guide (below), but authors themselves are largely responsible for their content. It seems quite likely that from this year on the volume will be distributed digitally as well as in print. UAF’s new Institutional Repository will most likely host the series, and starting with this publishing cycle, papers archived there will have a unique identifier, making them accessible to authors for preservation and circulation. More information about this method of dissemination will be made available later
Deadline for submission is TBA. Contact sgtuttle [at] alaska.edu for more information.
