Susan "Qimmiqsak" Bevins was raised in the Inupiat Eskimo tradition. Her artistic expression draws from childhood memories, interpersonal relationships and spiritual faith, together with values, emotions and conflicts derived from her cross-cultural experiences. This series is based on Alaskan Native imagery with contemporary shapes and technological themes.
From east to west:
Winter scene: snow, life, native mask, polar bear, raven
Climate scene: wind, rain, sun, lighting, aurora
Biology scene: molecules, DNA
Science scene: volcano, dinosaur, ocean, fish, jellyfish, dragonfly, palm tree, mask

Daniel DeRoux was born in Juneau, Alaska in 1951. He has exhibited his works and received awards internationally. This large mural piece show the history of science and engineering. Two more can be found on the second floor; "Big Bang - 1900" is located on the west side and "1900 - Modern Day" is located on the east side of the building.
