About

The Kuskokwim Consortium Library is the heart of the community of Bethel. It is the organization that enlightens the community through access to ideas and information and brings the community together through community programs and thoughtful discourse. The library has been recognized for it's high level of service by being named as one of 15 finalists for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation's highest honor for libraries, in 2022 and as a recipient for the medal in 2023

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all members of the community by meeting the cultural, recreational and information needs of the University of Alaska’s Kuskokwim Campus and the community of Bethel.

Targeted outreach initiatives to improve the quality of life for all people include:

  • Sponsoring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library through a partnership with Bethel Community Services Foundation.
  • Literacy and educational outreach to organizations that serve children.
  • Outreach to the Bethel Housing Coalition, Bethel Winter House, and Lion's Club Food Bank to improve access to resources for marginalized members of the community.

Please see our calendar for upcoming library sponsored programs and events.
