IARC Releases "Alaska's Changing Environment" Publication
The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at UAF, which houses the Center for Arctic Policy Studies, recently released a publication documenting observations of physical and biological changes in and around Alaska. Alaska's Changing Environment is appropriate for general audience use, focuses on changes occurring in recent years, and has a decidedly image-oriented structure, including dozens of photographs, visualizations, and maps. IARC intends to re-publish Alaska's Changing Environment every three years with up-to-date information.
A number of affiliates of the Center for Arctic Policy Studies contributed to the publication, including CAPS' own Program Coordinator Kelsey Aho, whose cartographic skills are on display in a map capturing climate adaptation planning at multiple scales, including statewide, borough, and city, Alaska Native village, and tribal government levels.
