Building Your Personal Brand
When: Wednesday, September 11th, 2019
Where: ELIF 401 (The BP Design Theater)
Time: 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Even if you don't keep up with Rihanna, Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres, and Will Smith, you already know who they are and what they're about--that's because of their personal brands.
Although most commonly seen in celebrities and influencers, personal branding is used by job seekers as well. If managed effectively, your personal brand can make a powerful difference in marketing yourself to prospective employers and advancing your career. Join FNSB School District's director of Public Relations, Andrew Cassel, in learning about and creating your very own personal brand.
Andrew Cassel is the director of Public Relations for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.
Personal branding is how you present your unique qualities and strengths to the world. To potential clients and employers, your personal brand shows what you bring to the table and how hiring you, out of all applicants, will benefit their business.
With the ubiquity of technology, social media has become a popular way for employers to learn more about job applicants; in fact, "Eighty-five percent of U.S. recruiters and HR professionals say that an employee's online reputation influences their hiring decisions at least to some extent."
