Whitney Lackenbauer (he/him) has been an adjunct professor in the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and member of the Center for Arctic Security and Resilience since 2020.

Whitney is network lead of the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAADSN), funded by the Canadian Department of National Defence Mobilizing Insights in Defence and Security (MINDS) program. He was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar in the School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, in Fall 2010; the 2017-18 Killam Visiting Scholar at the University of Calgary; Distinguished Visiting Professor at Canadian Forces College in Toronto in 2018; and Lansdowne Lecturer at the University of Victoria in fall 2019.

Whitney has (co-)written or (co-)edited more than fifty books and more than one hundred academic articles and book chapters. He is also co-editor of the Documents on Canadian Arctic Sovereignty and Security (DCASS) series, to which he has contributed thirteen volumes. His research focuses on Arctic policy, sovereignty, security, and governance issues; modern Canadian and circumpolar history; military history and contemporary defence policy; and Indigenous-state relations in Canada. For more information, please visit his website at www.lackenbauer.ca.
