Arctic Security Forces Roundtable - 2022
From 3-5 May 2022, the Arctic Security Forces Roundtable (ASFR) was held in Fairbanks, Alaska. Established in 2010 and co-chaired by U.S. European Command (Head of Delegation - Brigadier General Edward “Hertz” Vaughan) and the Norwegian Defence Staff (Head of Delegation - Commodore Solveig Krey), ASFR was conducted in the United States for the first time. U.S. Northern Command, one of six DOD geographic combatant commands, was selected to officially host this year’s event where the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Eielson Air Force base were selected as the hosting locations.
ASFR is the only Arctic defense forum in the world, and Russia has not participated since 2014 as a result of sanction and suspension of mil-to-mil contact. CASR provided contracted support for aspects of event planning and conduct responsible to USNORTHCOM.
