December 6, 2023

The Fresh Eyes on Ice project visits the village of Shageluk, Alaska in March of 2023 as part of their snowmachine traverse along the Iditarod trail.

Produced by Chief Storyteller Amanda Byrd (UAF Alaska Center for Energy and Power). Funding for this project comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Association (NASA).

Many thanks to the community of Shageluk and the Innoko River School and all the communities, schools, students, and teachers around Alaska helping to better understand ice on rivers and lakes, improve public safety and awareness of climate change, and foster science education.
