Living in a dry cabin in a city with one of the highest heating requirements and highest costs of energy in the world has made Daisy keenly aware of the need to use technology to increase energy efficiency and to develop local renewable energy sources. Daisy is happy to work on the forefront of renewable energy research in the challenging arctic environment. Daisy earned her PhD in mechanical engineering from UAF in 2013. Before that, she spent seven years designing mechanical components for the semiconductor and power control industries, in the Silicon Valley. She also has broad experience in materials selection and design-for-manufacture criteria.

Yin Zhang is an assistant professor of petroleum engineering at the College of Engineering and Mines. He received his B.Sc. degree and M.A.Sc. degree in Petroleum Engineering at the China University of Petroleum in 2007 and 2010, respectively; and then he got his PhD degree from Petroleum Systems Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Regina. Previously, his research mainly focused on assisted history matching, determination of petrophysical properties, uncertainty quantification, CO2 EOR and storage, oilfield corrosion prevention.
