Juneau 4-H Luge

Shredding the slopes with the Juneau 4-H Luge Club!!

A huge thank you to our Juneau 4-H Luge Leader Doug Sanvik for another successful Luge season! Doug and his wife Martina have gone above and beyond for our Southeast 4-H youth for almost 10 years now. Doug has been instrumental in securing and maintating a luge hill at Eaglecrest, as well as getting donations and grants. Due to his diligent efforts, the Luge Club has been able to buy specialised luges, helmets, and even build a brand new shed to store them in. The latest was a generous grant from the Juneau Community Foundation. The grant facilitated construction of the storage shed at Eaglecrest, conveniently located next to the club's luge runs! Eaglecrest has been a fantastic partner for the Luge Club as well. They have made two luge sledding trails within the ski area boundaries, and they also groom our trails each Saturday morning!

It's been wonderful having the support from the Eaglecrest and the Juneau Community Foundation, in our effort to provide a fun and exciting winter sport activity for Alaskans of all ages! Last winter, 115 children and adults who were new to luge, joined Doug for hours and hours of sliding fun!
