Distinctions

Upright oval canopy; green leaves in summer; yellow and red fall color; white clusters of flowers in spring; light red red edible fruit that is used for jelly and wine. (See entry under decidous shrubs)

Limitations

Requires full sun; small, bushy, multi-stemmed plant in Int where northern grown plants are best. Plants sucker and may spread into lawn.
