Distinctions |
Grows to be a large, suckering shrub or small branching tree. Clusters of small, fragrant, white flowers appear on upright arching branches as deep green leaves develop. Large, purplish-black fruit appear in midsummer. Fall foliage is yellow to red. This variety is self fertile; excellent fruit for eating or cooking. Leaves can turn shades of red and purple in the autumn. |
Limitations |
Not recommended for Interior. Can be a host for apple (serviceberry) cedar rust; susceptible to leaf spot. |
