Biography

Before earning my B.S., I participated in several internships and fellowships: I served as an intern in marine animal rehabilitation through the New York Riverhead Foundation, analyzed physical oceanography data as a MIMSUP fellow through Western Washington University and received a REU through University of Alaska Southeast to conduct whale watching research. After receiving my degree, I participated in research internships with Pacific Whale Foundation and Whale and Dolphin Conservation in addition to earning my Graduate Certificate in Fisheries Management through Oregon State University. I relocated to Alaska in 2017. Over the next 5 years I worked in healthcare, juvenile justice and behavioral health state offices, and volunteered in marine mammal projects, increasing my experience in data analytics and collaborative research. In March 2023, I received the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship to research the bio-oceanographic connections of cetaceans in Juneau.
