Ceremonies & celebrations

UAF celebrated commencement on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks. To safely celebrate, we held two short, student-centered ceremonies. Diplomas will be mailed to graduates a few weeks after commencement.

  • Lavender Graduation
    Lavender Graduation, which celebrates LGTBQ graduates, took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022, in the Wood Center ballroom.

  • Honors College Graduation Ceremony
    The 2022 Honors College graduation ceremony took place on Thursday, April 28, from 6-8 p.m. in the Margaret Murie Building Auditorium. 

April 29, 2022

  • Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony
    The Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony for students receiving doctoral degrees took place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, in the Charles Davis Concert Hall. Ph.D. students were also invited to walk with their college at the Troth Yeddha' Campus commencement at the Carlson Center on Saturday, April 30.
  • Recognition of honorary degree and award recipients
    This year’s recipients of honorary degrees and the Meritorious Service Award were honored at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29, in the Charles Davis Concert Hall. 
  • Kuskokwim Campus (Bethel) commencement

  • Grad Bash
    Graduates and alumni were invited to attend a celebration at the pub Friday, April 29. Must be 21+ to attend.

April 30, 2022

  • Troth Yeddha’ Campus (Fairbanks)  commencement at the Carlson Center
    Students graduated with the college where they were receiving a degree. 
    If a student was a double-major in two different colleges, they chose one college or the other. The event was also streamed live for those who were unable to attend in person.
