Success at the Blue and Gold Gala

Thanks for your support of our successful Blue and Gold Gala this past weekend, where we exceeded the fundraising goal of $100,000 with a sell-out crowd!

The centennial celebration recognized distinguished faculty, alumni, friends and supporters. Recipients of the Emil Usibelli Distinguished Teaching, Research and Service Awards, respectively, are Mary Ehrlander, David Newman and Laura Conner. Grace Schaible, the Usibelli family and the late Elmer and Mary Louise Rasmuson were recognized as Philanthropists of the Century. Virginia Farmier received the Distinguished Alumna Award, and Jo Scott received the William R. Cashen Service Award. UAF photo by JR Ancheta.

A place to write a new Alaska

The constitution for the proposed state of Alaska might logically have been written in Juneau, the territory’s capital. Why meet instead at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, where the temperature dropped to minus 18 on Nov. 8, 1955, the first day of the Alaska Constitutional Convention?
Find the answer here and read more of UAF's big ideas.
