NEH grant to help museum renovate historic gallery
The University of Alaska Museum of the North has received a $360,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support the renovation of the historic Gallery of Alaska. The funding will allow the museum to hire an anthropologist, who will visit Native communities to solicit their input into the gallery project, as well as consult with a team of humanities scholars. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, more than 17 million Americans were victims of identity theft in 2014. Educause, an association of IT professionals in higher education, reports that 21 percent of respondents to its annual student survey have had an online account hacked, and 14 percent have had a computer, tablet or smartphone stolen. ATMs now on campus

New ATMs are installed and operational in Wood Center and Moore-Bartlett-Skarland complex. The process has taken much longer than anticipated, but installation for the week of March 27 has been confirmed.Unfortunately, we are unable to give cash advances on credit/debit cards. The good news is that students, faculty and staff are able to cash checks up to $50, at the UAF Office of the Bursar. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Customer service training offered in Fairbanks
Four customer service workshops for employees of the hospitality and visitor services industry will be offered in Fairbanks during April. The UAF Cooperative Extension Service and the Alaska Division of Economic Development will co-sponsor AlaskaHost classes on customer service essentials, telephone customer service and serving customers with disabilities. A fourth training, Alaska in Your Backyard, describes local sights and history. Read more

The Wasilla native is preparing for one of her biggest competitions yet, only this time, it’s not in a pool.
