Blue and Gold Gala
UAF Chancellor Dana Thomas and others enjoy the entertainment at the Blue and Gold Gala, Feb. 11 at the Carlson Center. The centennial celebration will recognize distinguished faculty, alumni, friends and supporters. Recipients of the Emil Usibelli Distinguished Teaching, Research and Service Awards, respectively, will be Mary Ehrlander, David Newman and Laura Conner. Grace Schaible, the Usibelli family and the late Elmer and Mary Louise Rasmuson will be recognized as Philanthropists of the Century. Virginia Farmier will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award, and Jo Scott will receive the William R. Cashen Service Award.

Director hired for Matanuska Experiment Farm
Susanna Pearlstein has been hired as the new director for the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension center near Palmer. Pearlstein, a postdoctoral researcher based at the Environmental Protection Agency in Corvallis, Oregon, will start her new job April 3. Read more
