I am very pleased to welcome you to the start of the academic year. It is a great privilege to serve as your new chancellor. I know some of you from my previous roles here at UAF and with the statewide system, and I look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming weeks and months.

In the tradition of Alaska summers, we still have construction going on, especially on the Troth Yeddha’ campus. Some older buildings are getting much-needed repairs and replacements, and workers are putting the finishing touches on the new engineering building this semester, getting its classrooms and labs ready for students in January. No matter where you work, please, always be aware of your surroundings, and help others stay alert and safe.

I look forward to celebrating UAF at convocation Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. in the Davis Concert Hall. Communication and collaboration will make us a stronger institution. As we go forward together, I’ll be interested in hearing your goals and aspirations. Thank you for your commitment to UAF.
