You're invited to participate in the Week of the Arctic

From Larry Hinzman, UAF vice chancellor for research

We are pleased to welcome the Arctic Council back to Fairbanks for its ministerial meeting on May 11. The meeting marks the conclusion of the U.S. chairmanship, and those attending will celebrate the accomplishments of the past two years and observe the transition to Finland's chairmanship.

We've been working with the Alaska Arctic Council Host Committee and other community partners to help organize a Week of the Arctic to coincide with the ministerial meeting.

Some of the highlights include the International Arctic Assembly, the Arctic Council Showcase and the Arctic Highlights Forum, as well as the Arctic Mayors' Roundtable.

Presentations, workshops, community talks and facilitated policy discussions will highlight the work of the Arctic Council and others.

Please consider attending events and sharing this information. This is a great way to showcase UAF's involvement in the Arctic Council during the chairmanship.

You'll find a full schedule of events on the website.

Thank you for all you do to bring public awareness to the issues in the Arctic and to UAF.
