On July 20, Chancellor White announced a death on the Fairbanks campus. The person has been identified as Ross Halliday, a student in the geological engineering program. His family has been notified and has asked for privacy during this difficult time.

This was a tragic event, and some may need to seek counseling support. For students who need mental health care immediately, call 474-7043 and follow the instructions to connect to services. The Student Health and Counseling Center will have counselors available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. You can find more information at https://www.uaf.edu/chc/counseling-services-1/.
