It's time for the Golden Days Grande Parade!

Help represent UAF in the 2019 Golden Days Grande Parade on Saturday, July 20.

UAF’s parade entry will be a large float pulled by a University Fire Department fire truck and accompanied by people from across the university. This year’s theme is Picks, Pokes and Golden Folks. Employees, students and alumni are welcome to walk in the parade and will receive a gold T-shirt to wear.

University Relations will provide a variety of signs. No homemade signs will be allowed as part of the UAF float.

Here are a few other things you need to know.
  • Parade participants must sign a roster and UAF liability waiver form. A parental consent form must be submitted for any participants younger than 18. Please read through the parade guidelines and sign up in advance. Email forms to University Relations at uaf-univ-relations@alaska.edu.
  • The parade is 2.1 miles long. If you would like to ride on the float, please let University Relations know soon.
  • Parade participants should arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Judging is at 8:45 a.m., and we’d like to have some participants join us on the float at that time. Participants must be in the north Carlson Center parking lot no later than 9:30 a.m. to get positioned before the parade begins at 10 a.m.
  • There will be no parking at the Carlson Center for participants. Participants should park at Ryan Middle School and take the free shuttle to the parade lineup. There will be a shuttle at the end of the parade (728 Gaffney Road) to transport participants back to Ryan Middle School. You can see the parade route here.
Thank you for volunteering for this annual event.

Please note: The parade float is part of the Nanook Rendezvous alumni reunion and is paid for with private funds.
