I was saddened to learn that Terrence Cole died this morning
. Terrence taught at UAF from 1988 to 2018, when he was awarded emeritus status as a professor of history and Northern studies.

Terrence’s energetic enthusiasm for history, teaching and mentorship was well-known, and he earned several awards, including the Usibelli Award for Teaching and the Edith R. Bullock Award for Excellence. His many books and articles established him as a leading expert in Alaska history and polar exploration. I’d like to extend my sincere condolences to Terrence's family, friends and colleagues.
