Dear UAF staff and faculty,
Investing in our community is important to UAF. Right now, we can demonstrate our support by participating in the United Way of the Tanana Valley annual workplace campaign. I am pleased to announce that Marcia Cassino, assistant to the vice chancellor for student affairs, has agreed to lead and coordinate the 2020 campaign. Let’s show our support to make this our most successful campaign yet.
In this challenging economy, our community needs our support more than ever. Together we have a significant opportunity to create a brighter future for everyone, especially children, families and individuals who face barriers on their journey to self-sufficiency. Let's give back to a community that has given so much to the university.
UAF’s United Way’s Campaign will kick off on Dec. 1 and run through Dec. 10. Marcia has worked with United Way staff to create a campaign that maintains social distancing with no in-person events.
We have set a goal to raise $40,000 and will host five lunchtime live Zoom events. Each event will feature a different agency partner. This is a wonderful way to find out how your donation makes a difference in our community through the eyes of the agencies and recipients. Take this opportunity to join, learn and ask questions. You'll be hearing more about ways to improve lives when you give to the United Way.
Anyone who attends one of these events and makes a donation to any United Way agency will be entered to win an Alaska Airlines ticket.
The choice to participate is, of course, a personal one. If you choose to give, UAF offers you the ease of payroll deduction to donate. Thank you for your consideration.
Thanks for choosing UAF.
— Dan White, chancellor
