Dear UAF students, staff and faculty,

As we come to the end of this extraordinary year, I want to acknowledge and congratulate each one of you for your perseverance and dedication to yourself and the UAF community. You have been creative in finding solutions to the sudden challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, and every day I see evidence of the care you have for the people around you.

I want to extend special congratulations to the students graduating this Saturday, and to the emeriti and honorary degree and Meritorious Service Award recipients we are honoring this week.

This year’s graduates are being celebrated in a variety of ways. Be sure to bookmark the commencement website so you can stay up to date. Here’s a quick rundown:
  • April 30: Kuskokwim Campus virtual commencement
  • May 1: In-person celebration and graduate car parade on Troth Yeddha’ Campus (for graduates with tickets)
  • May 1, 4 p.m.: Virtual ceremony for all students (on Facebook and YouTube)
  • May 8: Bristol Bay Campus virtual commencement
  • May 13: Northwest Campus hybrid commencement
I invite those who want to cheer along the parade route on Troth Yeddha’ Campus to arrive no later than
11:30 a.m on May 1 for the parade, which will begin at noon. Please remember to bring your mask! Be sure to check the
parade route map for temporary road closures and times. I encourage everyone to participate in the virtual ceremony at 4 p.m. later that day and congratulate our newest alumni.

Thanks for choosing UAF.
