Today, Alaskans recognize Elizabeth Peratrovich Day. Elizabeth Peratrovich was an early leader in civil rights for Alaska’s Indigenous peoples. Her courage and determination can be used as a source of strength for all as we each contribute to building an Alaska that honors our state’s first peoples.
We honor Elizabeth Peratrovich when we incorporate her values in the work we do and in the way we treat people every day. UAF’s strategic goals of solidifying our global leadership in Alaska Native and Indigenous programs and creating a culture of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring are ways in which we honor Elizabeth Peratrovich’s legacy.
