Dear UAF community,

I am pleased to share that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has reaffirmed UAF’s accreditation! This is excellent news and completes our most recent institutional accreditation cycle that began in 2011. The news was conveyed to UAF in a letter received on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021.

UAF has been accredited by the NWCCU since 1934. This is a testament to our commitment to provide world-class education, research and service to Alaskans, our nation and the world. Information about UAF’s accreditation process can be found here.

I wish to thank Dr. Alex Fitts, UAF’s Accreditation Liaison Officer and her committee of dedicated colleagues who championed our accreditation effort over the last decade. More importantly, all of her work and that of the team that prepared UAF for last fall’s site visit is deserving of celebration. I also wish to thank Michelle Strickland for her support of the accreditation office. Thanks Alex and Michelle!

My thanks to Provost Prakash for her academic leadership. Provost Prakash has remarkable dedication to UAF’s academic programs and the students they serve. Her efforts throughout our accreditation cycle to meeting the accreditation standards have been key to our success.

Thank you for your part in making UAF a world class University. Thank you for choosing UAF.

Sincerely,

Dan White, chancellor
