When it doesn't rain enough in the rainforest

From 2016-2019, Southeast Alaska experienced drinking water shortages, insect outbreaks, low hydroelectric output and more wildfire than usual. Scientists are studying this drought, its causes and impacts, and the likelihood of future similar droughts.


Museum offers teen art and science workshop 

The University of Alaska Museum of the North is offering a March 14 workshop for teens to explore connections between art and science.

McDonald to serve as interim registrar

Holly McDonald has been named interim registrar, effective March 4. She will take over for Mike Earnest, who has accepted a new position with the University of Alaska Office of Information Technology.

Alaska EPSCoR presents facilitation training workshop

Professional facilitator and leadership consultant John Riordan will lead a two-day facilitation training workshop on the UAF campus in Fairbanks April 18-19.


FemCon scheduled March 17-19

Nanook Diversity and Action Council will host FemCon, March 17-19 at various locations around campus. Events will highlight experiences of women of color, queer folks and women who are part of underrepresented minority groups.


HR offering Supervising for Success training

UA Human Resources will begin offering its three-module Supervising for Success training starting in March 2022.


Seminar: Climate change, co-production and boreal forests

The IAB Life Sciences Seminar will feature Paivi Abernethy of the Natural Resources Institute Finland and University of Waterloo. Abernethy will present "Climate change, knowledge co-production and sustainable boreal forests."


Virtual Skiathon is March 5-6 on UAF trails

The Skiathon, a 20-kilometer classic-style cross-country ski race and tour, will be held on the UAF trails March 5-6.
