In her recently published memoir, Katey Walter Anthony writes that a certain type
of northern lake is a lot like herself.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host the free Discover Alaska nine-lecture
series presented by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning starting on June 8,
highlighting topics in the 49th state with a variety of experts. Lectures will be
at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the BP Design Theatre, located on the fourth floor of the Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility on the UAF Fairbanks campus. The presentations will also be livestreamed and available as recordings online.
More areas of year-round unfrozen ground have begun dotting Interior and Northwest
Alaska and will continue to increase in extent due to climate change, according to
new research by University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute scientists.
